# How do I rate a contact with stars?

Use star ratings to prioritize your prospects before they begin engaging with your content.

Every contact can be assigned a **1 to 5-star rating**.

To add or change a star rating:

1.  Open the contact.
    
2.  Tap the **Star Rating** option.
    
3.  Select between **1 and 5 stars**.
    

Star ratings act as your personal assessment of a prospect's potential before the Hot Score begins tracking engagement.

Many users assign higher ratings to people who are:

-   Entrepreneurial
    
-   Well connected
    
-   Strong communicators
    
-   Actively looking for opportunities
    

As your prospect engages with your content, their actual activity becomes the biggest factor in their Hot Score.
